On July 24, the world’s first 50-ton ultra-high-capacity freight elevator, independently developed by Lingwang Elevator under Midea Building Technology, was officially shipped to the Guangdong Meijiao Logistics Nansha International Supply Chain Base.
This marks the transition of “heavy-duty trucks directly taking elevators to upper floors” from a technical concept to practical application, filling a crucial piece in the vertical transportation puzzle for port logistics and industrial development.
With millimeter-level precision, creating a “mobile steel corridor”
The Nanhai Meijia Products Group’s Nansha International Supply Chain Base is located in the core area of the port economy of Nansha District. It is adjacent to the port terminal cluster of Nansha Port and plays the role of a port logistics hub. The daily turnover volume of containers and bulk goods is large, and the transportation demands are concentrated frequently.
Under the traditional operation mode, containers need to be lifted and transferred multiple times for loading and unloading before being stored in the warehouse. The process is lengthy, involves numerous steps, and poses a high risk of cargo damage. It has become increasingly difficult to adapt to scenarios such as “warehouse relocation” and “industrial relocation”.
This elevator is specially designed for the large-scale logistics scenarios in ports. The cabin dimensions are 4m × 20m × 4.5m, capable of accommodating a 18-meter-long container truck to enter. Unlike the cumbersome processes in traditional models, this cargo elevator enables fully-loaded trucks to directly drive into the cabin, reaching the high-rise warehouse in one stop. There is no need to unpack or reload the goods throughout the process, significantly reducing the logistics turnover time.
Facing such colossal objects, the R&D team solved the manufacturing and transportation problems with a modular approach: The huge chassis and load-bearing beams were divided into standard modules. They were pre-assembled in the factory to verify the accuracy of all holes, then disassembled for rust protection and shipment. After arriving at the site, they were precisely assembled. This design not only ensured the structural strength under extreme loads but also overcame the industry bottleneck of transporting super-large components as a whole.
The safety performance also reaches the industry’s top level: The project independently developed a multi-link double-layer safety ram, with 10 sets of braking units operating synchronously, and the braking error is controlled within 1 millimeter, which is equivalent to achieving the precision of a hairline under a load of hundreds of tons; combined with a customized traction system and high-strength rolling guide shoes, it not only ensures strong power but also ensures smooth and reliable operation.
